Goblet Squat Fixes
3 small changes for a squat that finally feels right
3 fixes
- Hold the bell close to your chest, like a warm cup of coffee, elbows down
- Bend at your hips and knees together, keep your feet flat the whole time
- Keep your heels down and your chest tall as you descend
- Brace your core like you're about to be tapped in the stomach
How deep should you go
- Go only as deep as you can control with good form
- Common target: hips just below knee level, if your mobility allows it
- Heels lifting or lower back rounding? That's your current depth limit, for now
- Depth improves with practice and ankle and hip mobility work
Common errors to check
- Knees caving inward: push them out in line with your toes
- Bouncing at the bottom: pause briefly instead of bouncing off tension
- Looking straight down the whole time: keep your gaze slightly ahead
- Bell drifting away from your chest: pull it back in tight
Good to know
- The goblet squat is a great daily mobility tool too, even with light weight or just bodyweight.
