BURPEE

Burpee Broad Jumps

3 fixes to move faster over the 80m HYROX station

The station

  • 80 meters of burpee broad jumps, part of the official HYROX format
  • No set rep count, just cover the distance
  • It comes after a 1km run, so your legs are already working
  • Standard across every division, unlike the weighted stations

3 technique fixes

  • Pick one jump length you can repeat every rep, not your longest possible jump
  • Don't stand fully upright between reps, cut the wasted vertical movement
  • Land, chest down, straight into the next burpee, no pause
  • Land with soft, bent knees to protect your joints

Pace it like a race

  • In training, count how many reps it takes you to cover 80m
  • Practice at race effort, not your max effort
  • Break the 80m into chunks mentally if the distance feels long
  • Practice the movement fatigued, not only when fresh

Good to know

  • Check your division's current rulebook before race day. Standards can change season to season.
